I should start this by saying I want to use Outlook. From what I've seen of it in public beta, and from using it on PC's, it's great. Useful, pretty straightforward to use, and reasonably efficient. Not that bad, really. I want to use it.
I've got no idea exactly what's happened to Microsoft Outlook: mac since it's much hyped beta period started a while back. The beta came out, worked moderately well, had a few annoying bugs, and a lot of features marked as pending. It?ll be there in the final version ? it's only a beta, the website calmly said.
Jump forward to September. The beta's expired. There's still no word on the final version's availability or pricing. Strangely, the free beta download on the Microsoft site is still there, just without the word beta. And in my experience, most of the bugs I experienced (to use MS's latest marketing buzz) are still there in the "final" version. Worse still, the "final" version can only read Exchange mailboxes, not POP mail. So I have to run Outlook Express just to get external mail. (sigh). And that's only the start of my issues with Outlook: mac. I only hope they dropped the project to develop Outlook for MacOS X.
