the hard sell
I was talking with Matt last night, with Getaway on tv in the background (and proving that guys can't multitask). The first story we saw was covering an office tower in New Zealand where you can basically jump off the top with a rope attached so you don't faceplant on the pavement at the bottom.
Anyway, Ben was hosting the segment (he's the guy who makes me faintly embarrassed every time he leaves the country) and flatly refused to jump off the building. So they made the producer jump, which prompted disturbing giggles from Ben (more concern). She jumped, climbed back up, and claims she was crying the entire time. End result? "I hated it" Big thumbs up from her then.
Eventually Ben got up there and finally jumped (though I think it's a safe bet there's lots of people willing to give him a shove off a high building, even if he's attached to a rope and harness). His comment? I hate it.
Which makes me wonder: did the company that runs the jumps off the tower actually pay for these guys to jump?
