cousin (cousin!) yeah-yeah-yeah

I caught the start of the twisted world of Spinal Tap meets the Backstreet Boys last night, with Get Ready to be Boyzvoiced in the Cult movie slot on SBS. The first thirty minutes were pretty damn good, and I've got the rest on tape to guffaw through tonight.

I think the movie was great.....excellent...very fun!!!!

I saw the movie, and have watched it over many times.
I have a question about the lyrics to cousin. What's the next words to this line:
"I'm your cousin, yeah, yeah, yeah. Second daughter of my Father's sister . . .?"
I have played that line over many times with friends and none of us can work it out. I have looked through lyric sites and have only found lyricsdownload.com that have anything from the movie/cd (yes, there is a CD). But that site only has "Father Christmas" (only briefly mentioned in the movie, check it out) and "Quanta Costa Cervesa". The consensus is that the words sound like " . . . and my body told me.", but we're confident that's not right. I'm calling on anyone out there able to help, or even know where I can get the CD from.

Just found it, the line ends with the name:
"Anne Marit" (the name of his Father's sister)

I would love to see all the lyrics to the songs - that movie is hilarious( seen it twice already, not enough! Reception was foul too! :Lets petition SBS to play it again. Where did you find 'anne marit' etc??

There is a DVD but it doesn't have English subtitles, so the distributor told me, you can only really buy it in Norway, and it seems to be out of stock and no one is sure when it will be printed again - GREAT!!!!

Hi all.

Good to see - and a little strange - that this movie got to be such a hit in Aussie. I'm from Norway myself, and have some background info of the group and how this thing became so big.

Espen Eckbo is a norwegian comedian that got really famous in Norway, when he made small presentations about strange ppl (all played by himslef) for a popular talkshow in Norway.

As time went by he came up with this "band", and they made a few videos that got aired on such comedyshows here. He thought it was a good idea so he went on with it, and made a lot of media about strange things. Like the fan that had stolen the name for the webpage, so they had to make some other page to be the official one. And there really was two web-pages out there, one updated by the big fan (also Eckbo).

This was around the time when they gave out the CD, so it gave them a lot of PR. They did very good, and actually did perform on a few events around here. Then he came up with the idea to make a documentary about the band, and managed to get funding to make it.

The whole thing can almost be called a scripted documentary, with a slight truth to it. As in the band did exist. But it was a way to make fun of the whole boyband/ girlband trend that was happening at the time. I think they did that brilliantly, and when this movie was out the whole thing disappeared. Kind of like you would expect from the ending of the movie.

I think its a movie that would deserve more credit then what it got, and im glad that others find it amusing. Eckbo is still one of the best comedians around here, but isnt as much on TV as he used to. Hopefully he will be back with a new stunt like Boyzvoice.

PS - Waldemar Hoff (playing the synth and smoking in the movie) was also played by Eckbo, and was originaly one of the persons he portrayed when he first appeared on TV.

Hope this could answer some of your questions.

Keep watching...

Tor

In case anyone is interested, this movie (Get Ready to be BoyzVoiced) has been released to DVD in region 2 (actually pressed in norway I think)

It is available via mail-order from Zailor ( http://www.zailor.no )

The sound and video quality are EXCELLENT and it includes quite a few extras including full (not cut down like in the main movie) versions of all 9 video clips made.

When one of my friends alice told me about this movie i was thinking man how crap but when i actually sat down and watched it i couldnt get enough of it. They have the best songs especially COUSIN and MR PRESIDENT!!
Go Boyzvoice

Posted by: Nicole.H on April 17, 2006

Hey guys.

Good to hear someone still caring about Boyzvoice. Being norwegian myself, I love the songs. I think I have listened to "12 year old woman" and "Hey, mr president" at least 400 times each.

Anyways, think I'm gonna order the DVD from zailor.no now. If I do I'll upload it to a FTP-server so we all can share :)

!!!i Love Boyzvoice!!!

The mockumentary 'Get Ready to be Boyzvoiced' was on tv in Australia about 2weeks ago and i've been like obssessed with them ever since!! I've been trying desperately to get my hands on a copy of the DVD too, and i followed the http://zailor.no link to check this out. It says that it has english subtitles and everything but it only comes in region 2. Does anyone know if region 2 will work in an Australian DVD player? I also have a Compaq laptop, about a year old...could it possibly work in there?

This is a pretty old forum, so i'd be surprised if anyone sees this. But ANY help at all would be really great!!
Thanks.

Hi Dannie

I too saw this film on SBS this month & have been obsessed ever since! I've e-mailed SBS to see if they will air it again but have had no response yet. According to Wikipedia, Region 2 is playable in The Middle East, Western Europe, Central Europe, Japan and South Africa. In Australia we need to buy Region 4 DVDs unless we have a multi-regional DVD player.

Let me know if you have any luck tracking down this film & I'll let your know if I find it.
