One of the happy side-effects of forcing my Coolpix to shoot at fast shutterspeeds at night is that when you bring the levels back up in Photoshop you get some nice "grain" coming through. This one's another shot from Thursday night, this time outside the Astor, just a few doors up from the Velvet Lounge.
In other news, I've added an RSS feed for shootfirst, if you happen to be into the whole newsreader thing. I'm also adding a few new photos each week (hence the feed), so check back every once in a while. I've also added in next and previous links to each photo, as previously suggested by Dan.
There's a weird trend I've noticed lately, with a bunch of my photos being taken by the coast. Weird in that I live a bit of a drive in from the coast, and about 30 minutes from Trigg, where most of them are shot. Why? Trigg is right near my parent's place, and I usually visit on a Sunday, which seems to be prime-time for trigger happy Si.

Matt has pointed out that there's a program on the ABC all about call centres in India and their culture-capsules (Thursday, 10pm). It's all weirdly deja-vu.

I'm in the middle of our ten day holiday, and without net access at home it's been a little quiet in here lately. I'll get around to posting up some photos one of these days.
In other photo news, I decided to live dangerously and not take my digicam camping on the weekend, figuring I'd be less stressed about nursing my precious camera so I could relax a bit more. I did take an el-cheapo point and shoot that Matt bought me a while ago, which is my wish-it-was-a-lomo camera until I actually get an LC-A), so for the first time in about two years I'm shooting with film.
It's a weird feeling going back to film. I miss the instant feedback of digital, but I'd forgotten about the mystery and romance of old-fashioned film. Unfortunately I've got a bunch more photos to take before I finish off the roll (the other thing I'd forgotten about using film).

About a year ago I stumbled on a cd that sounded pretty cool to me. It's full of old jazz tracks from the Verve label, uncovered after they gave a bunch of top DJs access to their vaults. The DJs remixed the tracks and the end result was a pretty sweet disc full of great jazz with some funky beats.
That cd is Verve Remixed.
Unfortunately, since then everywhere I go is playing the thing. Claire, our friendly projectionist at Sunset, played it so often I declared it the official soundtrack for the 2003-04 season. And now I'm hearing it at cafes, restaurants, everywhere! I can't escape!
In other news, The Panel is on tonight (woo!). They don't have a website, but they do have a suitably weird page on the main Channel Ten site.

- Did I mention that I'd love to work for Google? Hell, I'd settle for being a cleaner there just to sample the food.
- There's a new beta of Safari out. With tabs. I think I'm in heaven.
- How badly does Norah Jones need a new website?
- Great photoshop tip from Ben Willmore: everyone knows hitting the tab key shows/hides all the palettes, but here's one better: shift-tab shows/hides everything except the tools and options palettes. Genius!
- I'm taking three days off next week, which combined with Easter/Anzac Day, makes for a 10 day holiday. Ten! What'll I do with all that time?!

I finally caved yesterday and bought the Norah Jones DVD that's been tempting me for a while now. It's a good show, not the one I was expecting, but still worthy of a spot in my collection.
Mental note: go see more jazz.

It makes perfect sense that the week that I happen to be sick, the week I end up falling asleep at 9pm every night, is also the week that Morcheeba are in town.

My photo site is now live.
It's a really simple site, mostly so I could actually finish it. There's plenty of features I want to add down the road, but for now I'm just happy it's finally up there.
It's designed using that table-less css that's all the rage with young kids these days. If it looks weird, post a comment and I'll figure it out.

I've been quiet lately, but I've got a good excuse.
I'm sick.

I'd like to declare the month of April 2003 'Official Diversionary Month of Getting Crap Finished'. I've got the photo site most of the way there on my laptop, now I just need to upload everything to the server and fix the inevitable breaks. It's almost finished!
Next up is wrapping up the website for The Oh My Show, which is long overdue. And now that the Granny Commentaries are almost done, we might actually need the website. Still with Matt & April, I think their site might be due for a nip and tuck (I've already made a snappy css-based redesign of this site, I just need to finish it up and chuck it on here).
Oh, and that's on top of a pretty busy month at work, along with this month's week-o-laziness with three public holidays in about eight days.

I'm back again, after (another) server dropout. And I've spent the last few nights kicking back in a chair at home sorting photos for my site, with somewhere around sixty photos in there now. I'm still working on a few features, so I'll probably launch it and add more widgets down the track.
I also feel slightly silly posting photos of rain and storms when it's now bright sunshine and 31° outside. Three cheers for Autumn.
