Adjustment Layer with gradient mask appliedSo, you're messing with adjustment layers in Photoshop. Today's handy tip is simple but incredibly useful: when Photoshop creates a new adjustment layer for you, it automatically adds a layer mask.

So for example, you can add a colour balance adjustment layer to add more pink and yellow to clouds at sunset, and use a gradient to gradually apply the adjustment as you move up the image.
