the powerbook sleeps tonight
I forgot my Powerbook's power pack yesterday, so after it started complaining about battery power I just shut the lid and it went to sleep. Problem being it ends up in this coma-like state, where it's still sleeping (the little LED is contentedly snoring -- it does. Seriously) but won't wake up. It's disturbingly traumatising.

if it is a healthy one, it is going to wake up once you plug it in. My 2000 powerbook sometimes does not want to stop dreaming even after, or especially after i plug it in while it is asleep. We need to then wait for it to cool down and to completely forget about its dreams before it decides to really wake up. It can take a while sometimes. Sometimes several attempts... it just lets the drive spin, but there is no screen activity whatsoever. hmm... artificial intelligence?... ; )

Hey now that's weird. Luckily mine burbled to life as soon as the power cord was back in. I wonder what Powerbooks dream of?

Do Powerbooks Dream of Electric . .. oh, what rhymes with sheep? I think they're probably in that dodgy half-awake, half-asleep place dreaming about conquering the world or finally striking lucky with that sexy little Airport ™ across the corridor when rudely awakened. And if they're actually comatose, the important thing is that you keep talking to them . . .some powerbooks have been known to wake up after 40 years . . .no, really.
Also, in the next couple of days, look at Len's site for the results of a particularly hilarious game of Scattergories we had some weeks ago now .. . although it's a bit hard to figure out what the actual clues that led to some of the responses were.
