in review

It's not over just yet, but 2003's really been a year of transition. New friends and new toys at home; new clients and responsibilities at work. It's been a long year -- a pretty tough year, and there's plenty I'd change given the time again. Life's a learning experience, and I'm still here, so as the saying goes I guess this year makes me stronger (and wiser, and probably slightly greyer).

2004? I'm looking forward to a more balanced year.

More fun. More friends. More photos.

Cheers!

relaxing

I'm watching the new Coldplay Live 2003 DVD at the moment -- so far the visuals and sound have been as good as I'd hoped... it's shaping up to be a classic in my books. I'm up at my folks so I'm unfortunately without my surround set up, but it's still pretty rocking in stereo (but I'm looking forward to hearing it in DTS 5.1).

Christmas has been good, for the first time this week kinda relaxing too. More later, I've got to get back to my DVD.

changes

A lot's changing right now. Some good. Some bad. Some indifferent.

I'm looking forward to a few weeks away from the stress of business life, clients and technology. Fatigue and self-doubt are setting in -- to paraphrase somebody else, I need to go away and dream it all up again.

this way out

It's been busy. Luckily come this Friday it's Christmas break at work. My plan for the time off? Relax, and take more photos.

return to sender

The first line of the address on some junk mail I got at home, which I've sent back with "not at this address" scrawled across it:
To The Well Groomed Householder

an evil scheme

A thought occurred to me the other night: I could move into a new pad in Leederville, and I would be but minutes from all the arthouse movies at Luna! Not only that, but I'd also have ready access to the piles of free movie posters they hide at the back near the cafe. Very tempting.

I'm currently trying to track down the very cool, almost Saul Bass style poster for Gettin Square (not this one), which I saw once in the window at Luna and haven't seen since. I'm going to ring around a bit tomorrow and see if I can hunt it down.

lethargy

On the up side, it's Sunset Cinema time again. Four months to catch up on all the movies I missed through the year (last year we binged on flicks over summer and I've seen practically nothing at the movies since).

That, and it's the Christmas holidays soon so I'll be free from work for a while, and have plenty of time to catch up with my big sis and her fianc while they're in town.

What are you looking forward to?

llama karma

Overheard at the Oxfam Community Aid Abroad shop in the city, and spoken with a slightly creepy earnestness:
Stealing from here? Nobody would do that -- imagine the karma.

on hold

I've got about five weeks worth of photos to download and sort through. It's been one of those kinda months. More soon.

In the meantime, the New York Times magazine has a design issue. Go read. (Free subscription required - it's okay, they don't try to email you)
