Don't mind me
I've been meaning to replace the wintery grey/green layout on here but Summer's not the time to get things done. I did some messing on a transitional layout over Christmas and got most of the way to loading it into Movable Type, so I figured while it's 40-something degrees outside I'll huddle under the aircon and chuck something together.
The end plan is get something that gels more with the content I tend to post here. It's a very text-heavy design at the moment, which looks very swanky in Safari but I'm sure will be fairly average in Windows/IE. I'll be able to cross-check things more on our test machines at work on Monday. We'll see where it all ends up after a few months.

So anyway, here's some highlights of what's been changed:
- New design (duh)
- Headers on every page that link back up using date formats (this post lets you jump to the homepage and the 2004 and January 04 archives)
- Comments scripting fixed (yay!)
- Little panel on the sidebar to let you move around from post to post
- Swanky drop shadows on the header text in Safari
I still need to fix the date alignment on Windows/IE but other than that it's coming together nicely.

It's been in the single digits here.

If you can find or design a colour scheme called Hades, you'll pretty much cover the weather Australia-wide. I'm thinking the sort of colours Frodo and Sam encountered inside Mt Doom? I could do more along the "man it's hot" theme, but I'll spare everyone.

It also seems that IE6/Windows has some minor issues with the sidebar on individual entries. I've added that to my list.
