Wow. It's been a while since I've posted, and ages since I've actually written anything.
It's been a little busy lately. We finished the previously-alluded-to film the other night, so I'll have a stab at compressing it down and loading it on here over the weekend if I get a chance. Think Playschool meets 1950's anti-drug propaganda and you're almost there.

Yesterday involved running around with a dvcam filming random bits for a new short film we're working on. If it all works out well I might put a copy up here so everyone can check it out.

That's the view taken directly up from the same spot I took the little city skyline photo from the story about Mormons in South Perth.
Three cheers for Perth music! Today's sountrack on the stereo includes End of Fashion and The Hampdens.

My stereo's back! Yay! Happiness is having non-headphoned music back again.
Speaking of music, last week I kind-of-officially cheated in the A-Z music 'challenge' which is still kicking along every fortnight or so. Technically I'm meant to be buying a CD from an artist I don't already own each fortnight, but I caved last week and bought U2's Achtung Baby for U because, well, how could I not? It's Achtung Baby.
Anyway, it's covered in beautiful Anton Corbjin photos. How could I refuse

Man in tram. More specifically, a 2D man in a 2D tram (but I'm not one to nitpick).

Now I've made digs at Perth's "trams" before, but I think it's time to document this weirdness.
Above is some weird art thing I discovered in South Perth, which is actually the closest we come to a real tram here in Perth. Sure it's distinctly two-dimensional, the people riding it are made of metal and it is firmly bolted to a big slab of concrete so it's not exactly transport as such, but it's still the nearest we come to Melbourne's seriously cool trams.
And I can't talk about trams and Perth without mentioning our buses in drag (aka the 'Official Perth Trams' -- refer to Exhibit A, shown right). These babies are so far removed from an actual tram that it's really quite funny. I mean, it's got normal tyres!
I may be wrong in presuming this, but I think a tram really should have at least two of these things:
- Tracks
- Big scary metal wheels (and no rubber tyres)
- A funky bell and a seriously angry-at-the-world driver ringing it like there's no tomorrow

Did I mention the crazy-busyness at work? I'm sure I did. It continues.
But hey, it's a long weekend (courtesy of the Queen's birthday, which I'm sure bears no resemblance to the birthday of any recent monarchs) so I've been out and about.
I was walking along by the river in the South Perth yesterday afternoon enjoying the warm spring sun when I saw two guys in shirts and ties walking towards me on the path, looking suspiciously like Mormons. As soon as the thought crossed my mind they detoured off the path and made a bee-line for me, a few metres off the path.
Me 0, Universe 1.
It's like Mormons have actually realised everyone pretends not to be home when they knock at the door, so now they're catching people when they're out walking and defenseless.
