New toy
Some observations on finally getting a new G5 to play with at work:
- The case is insane. The engineering and design involved in the case is bordering on obscene. I love Apple.
- It's freaking huge.
- It's also freaking heavy (as I noticed carting two of them around on the weekend)
- Damn it's fast. It struggles with the base 256mb of memory, but once you kick that up over gig it's happy sailing. You clickity-click and it keeps up.
- Power LED's do strange things when you move the camera during a long-ish exposure.
Update on the freaking-heaviness: the specs say it's 18kg. So much power it hurts to carry it.

I SO want a Mac. Any Mac. But every time I think about getting one, I see the price tag, and just can't justify it, especially since the reality is my boring PC does everything I need it to do. Plus, some of my software is PC only, which means I'd have to run a virtual Windows session anyway.
But I still want one.

Nice. I ordered my iMac G5 yesterday and I'm teetering on the brink of insanity after waiting one day out of the possible six weeks till it comes.
