Taking Off
Since it seems almost everyone I know is either on a holiday, about to leave on on a holiday, or planning a holiday, I decided it was time to start scheming about my next trip. Which, predictably enough, will probably be to Melbourne.
I'd love to head to Europe for a break (it's the fashionable thing to do right now apparently - I'm looking at you, Len, Mot, Chris and Nyree) but that'd involve at least three weeks off work. One of the joys of small business is that a three week holiday isn't likely in the near future (I'm assured the up-side of small business involves rolling around, Scrooge-McDuck style, in a vault full of money).
So on a cold winter afternoon in Perth, I was thinking of other places I could be...
Tell me about your holidays, past or planned.

I'm desperate to get away but I doubt that it will happen until we know if T has a stable job. I really want to get back to Vancouver and Singapore over the next few years.

Hope to see you over a spicey hot chocolate next time you are in Melbourne, Si.
Last travel that was for holiday purposes was to a little bed and breakfast on a mountain near what would be ski slopes if it had of been winter.
Lonely, burned out forest for miles. Hauntingly beautiful.

I'd have to recommend heading up into the Alpine National Park over here if you really want to go somewhere away from it all. Your laptop will be no good to you up there (tho, given the state of your battery, your laptop's no good for the 10 seconds between bedroom and loungeroom).
Beautiful scenery if not a little chilly this time of year.

For my part, can I sufficiently talk up the entire Mediterrannean region? Specifically the Porto area, where I am right now and which - let me assure you - the whole sunbaked stereotype, not an exaggeration. Now about that continental breakfast . . .
