Handled
Arne Jacobsen’s designs for the SAS Royal Copenhagen Hotel covered everything from the architecture of the building itself right down to the chairs, furniture, cutlery, almost every object used throughout the hotel.
Even the doorhandle.
And yes, they’re remarkably beautiful and also perfectly fit the hand — form and function meet at last — and that same fastidious attention to detail flows through everything Jacobsen designed.
Sadly the AJ Door Handle is only used on internal doors, with main room entry through an awful modern swipe-card system — the modernisation of the hotel has meant a few concessions of design to technology and modern conveniences.
